SHM is a Dallas-based boutique design studio providing custom architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. Founded in 2005 by David Stocker, Mark Hoesterey, and Enrique Montenegro, we’re committed to our craft, yet relaxed in our approach.

Architecture is the foundation of every project at SHM. Our team works closely with clients from early planning through construction to design spaces that support how they live and use their homes. With a focus on clear planning, proportion, and coordination across disciplines, the architecture serves as the framework that guides every decision.
From initial site analysis and feasibility studies through concept, schematic, and development design, we work in close collaboration with consultants and engineers to ensure alignment at every stage. We also support permitting and regulatory navigation, provide visualization and 3D diagrams to communicate intent, and remain involved through construction administration to project completion.
Interior design is developed alongside the architecture to ensure continuity throughout the home. Our team works with clients to plan layouts, select materials, and design interior elements that support the overall architectural vision, creating spaces that feel beautiful, livable, and cohesive.
Our process includes interior space planning, material and finish selection, and detailed kitchen and bathroom design, along with custom furniture, upholstery, and millwork tailored to each project. We also oversee furniture, fixture, and lighting selection, provide construction documentation and coordination, and manage white-glove installation to ensure our vision carries through down to the last detail.
Landscape architecture is an essential part of the overall experience of a home. Our approach integrates the built environment with the natural setting, shaping outdoor spaces that extend the architecture into the surrounding landscape. These spaces are designed to support daily life outdoors—creating places to gather, circulate, and connect with the environment.
Through 2D and 3D design concepts, site planning, and the development of hardscape, planting, grading, and drainage design, we establish a cohesive outdoor framework for each project. Close collaboration with consultants and contractors ensures the landscape reflects the same vision as a home’s architecture and interior spaces.

Founding Design Principal / Studio Head
David Stocker, AIA is a founding Principal at SHM Architects in Dallas, Texas. Prior to forming SHM Architects, David was a principal of Turner Boaz Stocker and a Design Associate at HKS Architects. His 25 years of experience include high-end residential, commercial, hotel, and office building and master planning projects. Besides Texas, David has worked on projects in Florida, New York, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.
